doc erice
Our home, our territory. We contributed to the recognition of this new DOC and we are very proud of it. We are able to express this lovely corner of Sicily in our wines, and through the bond between agriculture and the landscape that surrounds us: the winding hills embrace our vineyards and the winds from the sea caress and refresh them.

the territory and the civilization of the vine
The cultivation of the vine requires patience, commitment, and dedication. For centuries there have been various traces of man that testify the presence of viticulture in the DOC Erice area, and this is easy to see walking through the countryside.

ancient roots. new visions

Erice is a mix of history, passion, tradition in a unique and uncontaminated territory that marks a clear direction to follow in the vineyard, in the cellar and in the glasses of wine lovers. We relate to our island by respecting nature and believing that sustainable viticulture is necessary in a land like ours, kissed by the sun and caressed by the wind.
The history and vision of the company are characterized by a strong link with the countryside tradition. It is a land of vineyards and sun, of sea breeze and gentle hills that embrace the Erice countryside and that has a special bond with the agricultural tradition. Sicily – and in particular Erice – encloses an ideal territory for interpreting quality viticulture with respect and rigor. Sustainability is a starting point, a clear path to follow and pursue at all stages of the supply chain. Among the various activities that have contributed to the success of Casa Vinicola Fazio’s brand reputation, we must certainly mention wine tourism. The combination of two elements – the enological and the gastronomic one – can only converge and be the masters when considering food and wine tourism made in Sicily.
Mount Erice dominates Trapani from above. Formerly inhabited by the Elimi people and, later, by the Carthaginians and the Romans (who also built a temple dedicated to Venus Erycina), in the Middle Ages it was also called “Monte San Giuliano” by the Normans. A pleasant and uncontaminated place that gives a unique point of view on the wonderful and peculiar biodiversity in the Sicilian land.
An ancient legend narrates that Erice was founded by the Elimi, a group of people probably coming from Greece and that settled in western Sicily around the eighth century B.C. It soon became a religious center of great importance due to the presence of the sacred thémenos, the pagan sanctuary dedicated to the goddess of love. First the Carthaginians, and then the Punics, strengthened and expanded the city walls, transforming the ancient town into an impenetrable fortress. Thanks to an entirely rural and agricultural territory, the dominations that followed based part of their economy on agricultural productions, where the vineyard – together with olives and wheat – has helped to define the identity of this strip of Sicily and its community of reference. A heritage handed down from generation to generation which, thanks to the love and passion for such a rich and generous land, the Fazio family has managed to preserve over time, giving life to identity wines, faithful expressions of the terroirs of origin.

sustainability and coutryside culture
Sustainability is the mantra that accompanies our work from the vineyard to the cellar and, of course, also on the market, fully protecting and respecting the final consumer. The entire production cycle of Casa Vinicola Fazio is inspired by principles that rely on strict compliance with environmental protection standards and the production of clean energy from renewable sources.
